I looove that Nikolai doesn’t want Amara to be a weak person. He wants to build her and have her be strong Amara knew her fate would always be marrying for the family but that did not make it easier. When the time finally came and a mafia boss was chosen for her, she was scared for what her life would be like. With Nicolai who was her fiance, and his horrific tales of murder and torture, she was convinced her life would be painful and humiliating. That is until she met her husband. A man as ruthless as he was pretty, and the only one she could see herself falling for. But there was no happy ending for her. Men like Nicolai didn't love their wives. She had only one purpose and that was to give him a family but that did not stop her from hoping for more.

We get a sort-of epilogue after the end of the book, but it ends so abruptly (for me). Then we get a chapter for the next book. Like… 🤔 what happened?? 😭😭😭 where’s my proper HEA 😩. Where are the babies I want them to have? 😭 lol I’m sure it’s like this because we’re going to get Dmitry and Claudia’s book and we’ll see them there, but stillllll 😐😭 My father sold me off to a ruthless killer in the Russian mafia, an alliance between the Bratva and the Cosa Nostra.” While the H navigates these treacherous waters, he also has to keep his girl, the one who's central to it all, safe and teach her how to live and be strong in this dangerous world. And make no mistake, this is a dangerous and violent world; it's brutal and bloody. The sex is no different, it is rough, often violent and intense (but always consensual). While there are times they do "make love", there are other times that were a bit extreme for me; like when he uses the barrel of a loaded gun (he had his reason and it accomplished his goal), but that scene made me uncomfortable. I'm not typically squeamish about kinky sex acts. I think it was just the fact that the gun was loaded that bothered me. (I kept wanting to yell, " What if you accidentally hit the trigger and the gun goes off!" Guess it's the Mother in me! LOL!)

I read this in one sitting. There are no slow parts. There is high drama, tons of spice, and a plot twist at the end that I did not see coming. Amara poor innocent she's tossed into a arranged marragie to bring both sides at peace. She's going to be the perfect wife her father says. She doesn't know much about her future hubs just that he's a psycho and cruel. Until she meets him he is crazy and cold but around her he's tiny bit different, he's overprotective, possessive and well kill anyone who touches a hair on her head. And that's what he does when his woman feels threatened. NIKOLAI that man I swear I was drooling all over him!! He also had a plan with his brother but it changed with Amara. The things he says to Amara I had to change my own panties because that mouth!! I'll be his dirty girl anyday 😏 how OTT obsessed, JP, and PROTECTIVE Nikolai is👀! This man will do A👏🏻NY👏🏻THING for his woman 😍. This is true love right there 😭. Someone looks at her funny? Disrespects her? Gets too close to her? They better be ready to deal with the consequences 💅. It doesn’t matter if it’s family, friends, or a parent 🤷🏻‍♀️. He. Gives. No. F’s 💁🏻‍♀️. He’s gonna do whatever he needs to do to keep her safe and keep her as his Leone’s ability to create complex and multifaceted characters is commendable. Gabriel, with his brooding charisma, exudes a dangerous allure that is impossible to resist. The protagonist’s growth and inner strength make her a relatable and empowering heroine. The dynamics between the characters are electric, filled with tension and raw passion. Even for a man as cruel and calculating as Egor Baranov, handing your daughter over to a hardened criminal to suit your own business needs is low. But that’s exactly what he did.

This was an easy simple read with little angst the romance itself wasn’t that dark these two liked it rather rough but their connection together was sweet if you discount the fact that Nikolai will take anyone apart who dares even look at his wife sideways. He doesn’t change and Amara accepts him for exactly who he is. This did feel authentic as this is the only life she’s ever known so to her it’s all relatively normal and Nikolai does treat her like his treasure. A man is only as strong as the woman at his side. For their wasn’t just Satan, but Lilith, as well. “ This book read so fast! I gobbled it down. I wanted to protect Amara at all costs and when she is given to Nikolas... she doesn't know what to expect, but it is so much more than she ever expected for herself. I had a great time and read it all in one sitting. Can almost see how this series will arc. Three part mafia ruling families spanning the nation. Next book will feature secondary characters from this books mc interactions, specifically the female friend/enemy. Third book will focus on the male friend/enemy with each falling for the leader or next in line of ruling mafia families and end up leading a branch. Then they will unite to defeat their common enemy who was introduced as a father figure in this book whom they turned against when they realized he was power hungry and didn’t care about them. If you like easy mafia-arranged marriage stories but like the darkness to be because of the world rather than the romance itself then this is the one for you. Nikolai treats Amara like a princess unless it’s time to get their freak on then she’s his little doll.
