About this deal

Made with the unique Italian 'Tonda Gentile' nut, that are known for being bigger, rounder and sweeter. Produced in the Piedmont region of Northern Italy, its origins date back more than 300 years to the presence of early Christian monks living in the hills of the area.

The hazelnut extract is accompanied by coffee, vanilla and cocoa and then aged for six to eight weeks to create a sweet golden liqueur. Gorgeous served simply over ice, layered with single cream and sipped or mixed with a latte or hot chocolate. In its latest formulation it is 20%abv but most upsettingly the flavour has been altered and it is not nearly as good. Northern Ireland and Islands (Isle of Man, Scilly, Skye, Wight, Jersey, Guernsey): we currently do not ship to.

For sheer sophistication, pour it over ice or for a twist, pour it over ice with a squeeze of fresh lime for the most tantalizing experience. I love everything about this sticky liqueur: with its bottle designed to evoke a Franciscan friar’s cassock, it is divinely camp; and its toasted, caramelly hazelnut aroma is a joy.

In the event of any safety concerns or for any other information about a product please carefully read any instructions provided on the label or packaging and contact the manufacturer. But I love it in desserts, too: I use it to make a Frangelico tiramisu; add it to cream when whipping it to go with a crumble, pie or chocolate cake; and, indeed, it’s wonderful actually added to a chocolate cake batter itself or to a chocolate ganache or icing. All hazelnuts are edible, and archaeological evidence shows that they have been eaten here in the UK for thousands of years. Their sweet flavour is the reason they are so sought after by internationally known confectionery and worldwide popular gianduia chocolate creams.

Delicious as a straight liqueur, Frangelico's hazelnut flavour can be enjoyed neat, on ice with lime, in coffee and chocolate or in cocktails or desserts. Its name is also part of the same local legend - an abbreviation of Fra’ Angelico, a hermit monk believed to have inhabited the magnificent Piedmont hills during the 18th century. Smooth and luxurious on the palate, Aveline is full of delicious caramelised hazelnut notes, balanced by the fruity freshness of green apple.According to the legend its origins date back more than 300 years to a hermit monk named Fra' Angelico who lived in the hills of the Piedmont region in Northern Italy.
