About this deal

This is a fantastic series, as you can expect with Shuzo Oshimi it makes you feel uncomfortable whilst reading.

Then a few chapters after that, Seichi follows a not-all-there Shigeru back to the cliff, where he has a vision of his mother which causes him to repeat her actions and shove him off the cliff again. However, after Seiko pushes Seiichi's cousin, Shigeru, off a cliff, his life is turned upside down, and Seiko begins to manipulate him more and more heavily. From the creator who brought you notable works such as The Flowers of Evil, Happiness, and Inside Mari, comes a new suspense drama centering on the theme of a toxic parent. Enemy Within: A hallucination of Shigeru follows Seiichi around and encourages him to kill himself so they can "play together" again, becoming impatient and angry when he starts putting it off.The manga seems to later imply that Seiko sees herself above her son, and that she will react violently if he attempts to subvert her in any way. Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Seiko presents herself as a classic loving mother, but the things she does for Seichi's sake show that she wants him for herself. From the creator who brought you notable works such as The Flowers of Evil , Happiness , and Inside Mari , comes a new suspense drama centering on the theme of a toxic parent. My only minor complaint is that the publisher hasn't optimized the Kindle version which does hurt the impact of the double page spreads.

She lives alone with her alcoholic and abusive father, with whom she has a bad relationship after her mother abandoned them when she was younger. Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: On the night Seiko dies, Seichi has a dream about himself and her sitting together at a table as they were in the beginning of the series. This feels just like a longer chapter of the first 50 or so, there is absolutely no need for the story to continue other than being pure shock value. Jizzed in My Pants: When Fukiishi kisses Seichii, Seichii wakes up to find "stuff" in his pants the next morning. When a devestated Seiichi attacks her in a rage, she refuses to give him any closure or satisfaction, just coldly stating "Oh, I see.Although he doesn’t consider her behavior to be unusual, a certain incident starts to open his eyes to just how dangerous her affection is. Dissonant Serenity: Despite her generally muted demeanor, repeated episodes of this hint at there being something severely wrong with Seiko. Seiichi slipping into the same detached state as he recounts his "dream" signals his transformation into a monster like his mother.

As she falls, she has a vision of her sister-in-law and nephew, which brings back the memory of pushing him off the cliff. The Bob Dylan album of the same name helped inspire the title of the manga (and would later be used as the title of the official English translation), but the works are otherwise unrelated. I think actually others will enjoy this series, we got the big boob heroine, the Psycho "i can fix her", the "Traumatized" mc that does not want to change. Das Ende dieses Bandes war verstörend und interessant, vor allem was im Kopf des jungen(und der Mutter) jetzt wohl los ist, ist sehr eigenartig umgesetzt und lässt einen teilweise verdutzt da sitzen. Parental Incest: Downplayed, but not in a way that detracts at all from the horror of the situation.According to Oshimi, the Bob Dylan album of the same name inspired the title for the series, but was not a major influence on the story. Seiichi can't bring himself to hate her anymore, despite all the abuse he suffered at her hands, and takes care of her in the weeks leading up to her death. Harvey Awards Nominate Blood on The Tracks, Blue Lock, Cat + Gamer, Chainsaw Man, Red Flowers, Spy x Family". That hope comes crashing down hard when Seichi himself succumbs to madness and pushes Shigeru off of the same cliff, this time resulting in Shigeru's death. Seiko tossing her own nephew off the cliff, before turning around with a pleased smile on her face, as if to say "I did this for you".

At one point, Seiichi's cousin, Shigeru, jokingly pushes Seiichi near a cliff edge, leading Seiko to quickly grab hold of Seiichi, protecting him from falling. She tends to delusionally view Seiichi as a small child just as much as she views him as a lover, however, so ultimately her intentions are confusing. Distant Finale: The final chapter is of Seiichi as an old man living a normal life, showing that he was eventually able to overcome his trauma to the point that he has largely forgotten his mother. Thus, it seems less that Seiko "loves her son and will do anything for him" and more "loves her son because he belongs to her". As a result of the psychological trauma his mother inflicts upon him, he develops linguistic problems.Shogakukan collected its chapters in 17 tankōbon volumes, releasaed from September 8, 2017, [7] to September 28, 2023. Ian Wolf from Anime UK News praised the series' storytelling and Oshimi's artwork, highlighting the "detailed and sometimes disturbing close-ups" and "great views of the wilderness". He lives a normal life — friends at school, a Precocious Crush, and a loving mother and father that care for him. She really is way too overprotective - her response to Shigeru faking tripping her son off of a cliff is to toss him off said cliff for real, which results in the poor boy suffering permanent brain damage.
